Rediscovering Purpose & Fulfillment as a Busy Working Mum

Being a working mum is a role filled with both love and responsibility, but let’s be honest, in the midst of school runs, work meetings, emails, dinner prep, and endless to-do lists, it’s easy to lose sight of you.

Many mums I work with tell me they feel like they’re constantly “doing” but rarely “being.” They’ve checked all the boxes and yet something still feels… off. That feeling? It’s often a quiet longing for purpose and fulfillment beyond the daily grind.

🌱 Why Purpose Matters

Purpose isn’t just about achieving big goals or changing the world (though it can be!). It’s about feeling connected to your life, waking up in the morning with a sense of meaning and direction. When you feel aligned with your values and what truly matters to you, everything else starts to feel lighter, more intentional.

What Fulfillment Really Looks Like

Fulfillment doesn’t always look like fireworks and grand moments. Often, it shows up in small, sacred pockets:

  • The joy of a meaningful conversation and connection
  • The pride of completing a project you’re passionate about
  • The quiet satisfaction of setting a boundary and sticking to it
  • The simple act of honoring something for your own self care

3 Ways to Reconnect with Your Purpose

1. Check in with your values

Ask yourself: What truly matters to me? Is it connection, creativity, freedom, growth, contribution, peace? When you’re clear on your values, you can begin making choices that align with them, even in small, daily ways.

2. Make space for what lights you up

Carve out time (yes, even 15 minutes!) for the things that spark joy or curiosity. That might be dancing, reading, running, or revisiting an old passion. You don’t need to wait for more time start with what you have.

3. Dream a little

When was the last time you asked yourself: What do I want? Looked into the Future? Let yourself imagine what life could look like if you weren’t just surviving the week. What would more meaning look like for you? Fulfillment often begins with giving yourself permission to want more.

You are so much more than your roles and responsibilities. You’re allowed to want joy, meaning, and a sense of purpose and you don’t need to wait until your kids are older or life gets “less busy” to go after it.

As a life coach for working mums, I help women reconnect with who they are outside of their roles. If you’re ready to explore what purpose and fulfillment look like for you, let’s talk.
